11 things that cause unhealthy skin. Skin is the outer part of the human body and serves to protect the organs inside the body. So, the skin must be well treated, because it has an important function. Moreover, treating your skin properly, will avoid premature skin aging, skin disorders or even skin cancer. So, let’s know who the enemies of your skin are?
1. Sunlight
Actually sunlight is needed by our body to promote health. But you must remember that we could be exposed to the sunlight freely until 10 am. But after 10 am until 4 pm, you have to wear extra protection if you want to do the outdoor activities.
Why you have to be careful at noon sunlight? It’s because one of the sunlight’s component namely the ultraviolet (UV) light that has the most effect to the skin. There are 3 types of UV: UV A, UV B, and UV C. UV A is responsible to skin aging and wrinkle, while UV B cause skin reddening, sunburn, and play a key role in development of skin cancer. UV C has the shorter rays so the ozone layer absorbs it and doesn’t reach the earth. So, how to protect yourself from the UV? You must use SPF 15 or more for your sunscreen, wear a wide hat to protect your skin face, wear sunglasses that has ultraviolet marks on it.
2. Cold weather
Cold weather can make your skin dry, so remember to use a good moisturizer even on the indoors.
3. Stress and lack of sleep
While we’re sleeping, the body do detoxify naturally. Lack of sleep can lead to dull skin, the emergence of black circles around the eyes and speed up the aging process. While high level of stress is the cause of premature aging. Negative feelings such as fear, anger, sadness, depression can inhibit the regeneration of cells. So that, it’s very important to have a nice sleep and release your stress away in order to get healthier skin.
4. Pollution
Pollution can make permanent damage to the skin. Toxins derived from vehicles’ fumes, industry smoke, dust, etc can clog the pores that lead to unhealthy skin like flecks, acne, and dull skin. Pollution also triggers the skin early aging. So, the solution is you have to clean the face and skin after doing some outdoor activities and before going to bed.
5. Cigarette
Smoking didn’t provide any benefits for the bodies. Cigarette smoke can limit the performance of the blood vessels then disrupt blood circulation. As a result, oxygen in the blood can’t flow optimally throughout the body, then skin pores won’t get enough nutrition, so it will reduce the levels of collagen in the skin. Smoking also makes your skin thinner, makes wrinkles or liners especially near the lips, and leads to prematurely aging skin.
6. Alcohol
Drinking too much alcohol makes your skin look dull and disturbing skin elasticity. So, it’s better to avoid consuming alcohol or limit your consumption.
7. Shower rarely
Don’t underestimate the benefit of taking a bath and washing the face regularly. Make up and dust off the skin have to be cleaned because it could be clog your pores that can cause various skin disorders like acne, white blotches, etc.
8. Unbalance diet
Unbalance diet can damage your skin. If your body has vitamin deficiencies, then the signs will appear on the skin. For example lack of vitamin A will make your skin dry, lack of vitamin C will make your skin can’t regenerated, lack of iron will make your skin look pale, and lack of protein will make your skin look dull.
9. Lack of Exercise
Lack of exercise will make your skin look aged and dull .Lack of exercise will make your skin look old and dull. Exercise can increase the amount of oxygen in the blood and removing toxins beneath the skin through sweat. So, do exercise regularly to make your skin look fresher and healthier.
10. Excessive exfoliation
Are you often doing the exfoliation using scrub? Actually exfoliation is needed, because dead skin cells must be removed to help new skin cell regeneration. But, doing exfoliation excessively can make your skin thinner then become too sensitive to fight free radical. Thus, do the exfoliation only once a week with gently.
11. Dehydration
Lack of water can lead to dehydration. When your body dehydrated, the resilience of skin will be decreased. So, it’s recommended to drink mineral water at least 8 glasses each day.
