Having insomnia is very exhausting for many people. This sleeping disorder not only caused health problem for the sufferers, but also affects to their environment. Imagine, you only sleep 1-2 hours every night, but you have to drive on a busy road every morning. That’s very dangers, you may harm other people.
As I wrote in my previous post titled Natural Ways to Get Rid of Insomnia, the cause of this sleeping disorder are vary, but if you’re disciplined in doing some of my suggestion, you may overcome the insomnia problem. Then instead of consuming medicine or sleeping pills, some foods and beverages can trigger you to fall asleep.
1.Warm Milk
It’s the ancient thought from our mother. Do you remember, when we’re a child, she always commanded us to drink a glass of milk before sleeping. Factually, drinking warm milk help us to be drowse. Milk contains of L-tryptophan. Then when we drink it, our body change L-tryptophan into serotonin (affect mood) and melatonin (affect sleep).
2.Oatmeal
Do you ever think to eat our breakfast as dinner? Yup, eating oatmeal before going to bed is the best way to fall asleep. Melatonin’s content in it helps to calm the body and mind.
3.Chamomile tea
Chamomile tea is popular with its benefit to reduce stress level and support the nervous system.
4.Bananas
Have you consider eating bananas as snack before sleeping? Banana contain of melatonin, serotonin, and magnesium. So, this fruit is very beneficial to make you feel calm and to relax the muscles after doing some exhausted activities.
5.Wild lettuce
Though the taste is a little bit bitter, don’t ever underestimate this veggie. It’s effective to be the sleep tonics and reduce anxiety.
6.Nutmeg
Nutmeg has calming effect to the body. A little nutmeg (less than 5 gram) on a cup of tea will make you feel sleepy. But in large quantity, it will be very dangerous because it has hallucination effects like narcotics.
7.Honey
Consuming honey makes the glucose’s content in it will tell your brain to turn off orexin, a recently discovered neurotransmitter linked to alertness. So, add 1-2 spoonful of honey on your milk or chamomile tea to enhance your sleep.
